Restorative Dentistry - What We Can Do For You

Restorative dentistry is the main reason people come to the dentist, but do you know exactly what it is?

It involves finding, preventing and treating oral diseases and any tooth issues that may have arisen, which is exactly why it’s suggested that you visit the dentist every six months.

Restorative dentistry includes:

·         Fillings

·         Veneers

·         Bridges

·         Missing Teeth Procedures

Fillings

Fillings are the treatment of a cavity and are quite a common procedure. Fillings involve removing the decay on the tooth and filling it with a material.

We like to use white fillings, which are resin. Why? Because these are less noticeable than other types of fillings and they can be used more widely around the mouth, on the front and the back teeth.

The fillings we use, unlike some, are mercury free, and are TGA approved. Our dental professionals ensure your filling experience is pain free and will last a long time in the mouth.

Veneers

Veneers help chipped, cracked or uneven teeth to look even again. They are a layer of material that is bonded to the surface of the tooth.

Veneers are made up of porcelain, which provides extra shine, and composite, an inexpensive option, or the better option when there is not much tooth to work with.

This procedure is most common on the front teeth, both on the top and the bottom.

Bridges

A bridge is called as such because it “bridges” the gap that may be caused by a missing tooth. We use bridges that are made of metal and porcelain to fill in the gap left by the tooth.

A bridge works just like your natural teeth and stops the teeth around the gap from moving. It can be a great solution for a missing tooth, but if it doesn’t sound right for you, don’t worry. We have more solutions below.

Missing Teeth Procedures

We offer two more procedures to restore a missing tooth:

  • Dentures

Dentures are known as the classic “false teeth”. We offer partial (tooth section) and full (whole tooth) replacements, and these replacements are removable and reversible, making them very versatile. Dentures are declining in popularity, but they are still a great option for some.

  •  Dental Implants

Dental implants are best described as a false tooth that is screwed into a titanium screw that is placed in the jaw bone. It is like a permanent denture. Implants, like the other restorative procedures look and feel natural and like your normal teeth. They are a more secure option for people who don’t want to worry about taking a denture in and out of their mouth.

There are many restorative procedures (some that even fix the same problem). It can be hard to choose what may be the best option for you, which is why it’s best to speak with a professional.

Come and visit the professional team at your local Bellbowrie Dentist at Karana Downs Dental if you would like to talk about restorative procedures and what we can do for you.
